Record setting number of jams in 2009
After many arduous hours in front of the MR-8HD recording device, and then many more in front of my PC, I have finally finished reviewing every recording, ripping those parts of them that qualified to mp3s, and then posting them on the website. It was a lot of work, but it was totally worth it. ^_^

Last year, in 2008, after filtering through easily 10 - 15 hours of recordings, I found, ripped, and mastered a total of 11 tracks that I felt were "keepers." This year?... FORTY! That's right, 40 jams managed to make my cut as keepers. They're not all the most intricate, well practiced, or polished tunes, but considering we get together only once a year to jam, they all qualified as keepers.

As mentioned in the previous post, I broke my ankle this year during the trip to IL. I had in mind a jam from the time I got to O'Hare Airport on Sunday that I would name after that busted ankle. The name of the song is "Busted Ass Fibula", and along with the download I put a picture of my abused ankle, you can see it here, the broken area is emphasized with a red outline.

The download page with all the 2009 tracks is here, or you can download a zip file with all of Friday or Saturday.

I haven't had a chance to listen to all the tracks outside of when I was mastering them all, but here are just a few that I really liked that first time through:
  • Knee
  • Elbow
  • Tibia
  • Busted Ass Fibula

Feel free to post some comments about your favorites from the year (Unfortunately you must register to do this to avoid spammers and hackers from destroying this site.)

The 2009 jam will be hard to beat!
2009 was a blast! It's going to be hard to beat this jam next year. A great balance was struck between good jams, good food, and partying this year. It was a great turn-out as well with many people joining us in the festivities.

This year I broke my ankle playing hackey sack, we replaced the drum heads on the kit, and the jams were plentiful and good. Due to my broke ankle I spent a bit more time on the guitar on Saturday, and it was a great! As a tribute to my busted ankle and many months of recovery, all jams from this year will be named after body parts.

The jams can be downloaded one at a time from the 2009 downloads area. I am still in the process of ripping tracks off the recorder into the computer and then mixing them down. Once I have completed that I will set up a zip file so all the jams can be downloaded at once.

We Survived The 2008 Jam
2008 was the year with the first opportunity to record the jam because Sarah was kind enough to buy Joby a four track digital recorder. The result was 10 jams to remember and play for future generations.

The ten jams can be downloaded one at a time from the 2008 downloads area or as one zip file from here (also available in the downloads area).

The lyrics to the Annual Jam Folk Song should definitely be on this site. I'm going to start a thread about it, but I need Jay and Dan to step up and populate it!
